Awarding of Livelihood Assistance amounting to the Balungao Tuba and Patupat Vendors Association

Awarding of Livelihood Assistance amounting to PHP 122, 205.00 to the Balungao Tuba and Patupat Vendors Association through Mrs. Jovelyn Mariñas, Association President, for the Upgrading and Value-Adding of the Products under the iSTART Program of the Department of Science and Technology. The assistance aims to facilitate the improvement of the Tuba and Patupat production in the municipality, specifically in Packaging and Labelling Design, Laboratory Tests for Tuba Juice and Vinegar, and Provision of other needed equipment. The Municipality of Balungao is one of the six pilot municipalities in Pangasinan of the iSTART Program in Region 1. After a series of consultation meetings and seminars, the Department of Science and Technology through Dr. Armando Q. Ganal, Regional Director, and LGU-Balungao through Hon. Maria Theresa R. Peralta, Municipal Mayor, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of iSTART Program in the locality, including the Upgrading and Value-Adding of Patupat, Tuba, and Tupig and the Establishment of Goat Academy.
The awarding was attended by Mrs. Jovelyn Mariñas, Association President, Ms. Jennifer C. Fernandez and Mr. Cecilio R. Repangcol from DOST, and Ms. Raquel T. Caseres, PESO Manager-Designate and Ms. Rllysa O. Soto, Economic Researcher from LGU-Balungao at DOST Pangasinan Satellite Office, Urdaneta City on February 10, 2022.
