The Municipal Health Office (MHO) continues to uphold quality health service to the people of Balungao. It also serves as a bridge of the Department of Health (DOH) in the implementation of different health programs.
The Duterte administration through the Department of Health decreed the Philippine Health Agenda which aims to achieve quality health service to be provided to the people. Among the agenda is the Blood Adequacy Program, in which Balungao was able to achieve its 1% target for the 2018 blood requirement, the Philhealth MDR granted to Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) beneficiaries and to National Housing Targeting Service (NHTS) beneficiaries.
Another important health program is the implementation of the National Immunization Program, which is a school based immunization program for Grades 1 to 4 and Grade 7 students. The Ligtas Tigdas Catch Up Immunization Activity (LTCIA) was conducted as part fo the campaign against the complications of measles. 6- month old babies to 5 – Year old school children were vaccinated in either schools or the Barangay Health Stations.
In addition to bringing health services closer to the people, Barangay Health Stations were built for the convenience and comfort of the patients in the barangay. There are four (4) new health stations built in 2018 in addition to the health startions that were prevously built by the administration.
Dengue Surveillance and Barangay Clean-ups are periodically done by the Municipal Health Office through the cooperation of the Barangay Officials and the Barangay Health Workers for the eradication of larvae and the aedes aegypti mosquito species, most especially in areas that have reported dengue fever cases.
